Sofia is a set of 4 patterns inspired by baby bath time and diaper changing: a portable changing mat, a hooded towel, a washcloth and an organizer (or nappy caddy). Ear options are available for the bath cape and washcloth. The portable organizer has removable dividers for storing diapers, hygiene products, clothes, toys, etc. The changing mat has pockets and a detachable towel for easy washing. The finishes are meticulous (French and bound seams) for a refined result.

Fabric suggestions

Outer fabric: corduroy, quilted fabric, jacquard, sherpa, denim, gabardine, canvas, linen, oilcloth or coated fabric, poplin, seersucker, chambray, dobby, double gauze.
Lining: poplin, seersucker, chambray, linen, dobby, double gauze.
Terry fabric: loop terry, double-sided terry, cotton terry, bamboo terry, waffle.

Haberdashery

10 mm prong snaps.
Bias binding.
Fusible woven interfacing.
Mesh foam (such as Vlieseline Style-Vil).
Fleece interfacing (such as Vlieseline H630 or H640).
Fusible firm interfacing (such as Vlieseline S320), optional for the organizer dividers.

The fabric yardage is calculated for three fabrics (outer fabric, lining, and terry fabric). If you are using only two fabrics (as in the pink Liberty version), add up the yardage required for each project.

If you’d like to make your own bias binding, here are the amounts of fabric you’ll need:

For the hooded towel and washcloth set with homemade bias binding, allow an extra 40 cm of fabric.
For the changing mat with homemade bias binding, allow an extra 40 cm of fabric.

Bristol is a charming and functional sewing pattern from Vanity, designed to suit all everyday uses. Available as a pencil case or small handbag, it can be sewn in two sizes for each version. The pencil cases can even be transformed into lunch boxes or coolers by adding a suitable thermal lining. Its double-slider zip flap, full lining without bias binding and small inside pocket make it a practical and attractive design. In terms of style, Bristol offers two types of handles — basic or with loops — as well as an optional 50 or 55 cm shoulder strap for carrying over the shoulder or across the body. The finishes are particularly neat, with seams completely enclosed between the layers. An essential model, to be sewn for the whole family or as a small, very feminine handbag. One pattern, a thousand uses: everyday pencil case, well-designed vanity case or small, elegant handbag. Available in 4 sizes.

The recommended size for a lunch box is the large vanity bag (25 x 18 x 16 cm).

The smallest size, the mini bag, can hold a mobile phone, purse, glasses and lipstick.

The short shoulder strap is suitable for carrying on the shoulder, while the long shoulder strap allows for crossbody carrying.

Level: Intermediate to advanced

The intermediate level involves curved seams and assembling the lining without bias binding. The advanced level involves bag versions, whose smaller pieces require greater precision and attention to detail.

Fabric suggestions

Outer fabric: quilted, poplin, linen, canvas, gabardine, denim, jacquard, imitation leather, leather, honeycomb, jeans, oilcloth, corduroy.
Lining: poplin, insulated material for coolers (for lunch box option).
Interfacing: H630 or H640 type heat-bonded wadding (for the outer fabric) & S320 type semi-rigid interfacing (for the lining) or Style-Vil type foam (except for vanity bags, as the foam is too thick for these small formats).

Supplies

Nylon zip by the metre & 2 sliders.
11 mm wide elastic: 25 cm.
Handle option with loops: 2 x 2.5 cm loops.
Optional shoulder strap: 2 half-moon buckles and 2 2.5 cm snap hooks.

Borduurring 30cm

Mooi zwart-naturel gedessineerd geweven band (25 mm) van biologische katoen, van Bo Weevil. GOTS-gecertificeerd. Het band heeft een speels streepdessin in de lengterichting van het band. Zeer handig band, geschikt voor vele (decoratieve) toepassingen, zoals bijvoorbeeld het versieren van tassen, kleding of kussens, het maken van strikken of als (ophang)lus.
